I didn't follow my advice from another post and did not take reference pics when I dismantled the rear wheel of the RD250 project.
Sssooooo...I paid for it by getting all tripped up reassembling and getting the spoke pattern correct. Took a while longer than I
expected but now together again. Just some final trueing to the wheel and it'll be good to go.

Today I traced down and repaired a non charging issue on my B4. I started by taking off the sprocket cover to get at the stator wires. There are three bullet connectors that I thought might be rusty. I took them off, measured the voltage and put them back together. Then, while I had the cover off I changed my sprocket from a 14 tooth to a 16 tooth. I thought I might be able to slip off the old one and slip on the new one, but no....not enough chain slack. So I had to undo the slack adjusters and move the wheel forward...still not enough slack. So I pulled the chain guard and then took the chain off the rear sprocket, installed the front sprocket and then put everything back together. Then checked the voltage regulator/rectifier...it was fine. Then tested the battery...12.7 volts with bike off and 13.7 volts with bike idling. Success!!!
I took the bike out on the highway. With the 14 tooth I was running 85 kph at 4,000 rpm. With the 16 tooth it's up to 95 kph.
Despite the forecast there was no rain today, and it was warm and comfy. A good day to be on a bike!

I have really enjoyed the comfort of the V strom but I was no fan of the front brake. I'm used to sport bikes that have 1 finger stopping power, (ZRX1200). Maybe because the V was designed for dirt roads they put a less sensitive brake on it?? I found some 4 piston Nissan calipers to swap out the sliding carrier set-up on the V. Made up some brackets and now I'm just waiting to fresh pads. Missed my little mill for this project.

Nothing...but my BMW is going in for the 40k service tomorrow (not bad for 21 months)
While there they are replacing the rad because of unsightly bubbling on the paint (not that I noticed as it's under the fairing lol but I'll take a new rad at 40k any day
)
Dropped it off today for tomorrows appointment...they gave me this cool little loaner to take home.

Chris, I thought you were heading to the interior this weekend to pick up some more bathroom and shower parts?

Put the new XL 250 decal on the air cleaner cover, photo-shooted (shot?), and sent off for collector plate.
