Spent the last couple of days excavating the body work and extra crap on the Vee Strom to get at the spark plugs and cams to check valve clearance. First go-around on the top end of the engine since I got it.......just did suspension and non-engine stuff when I got it.
Naturally, the valves are tight, so now I learn about removing cams and dealing with shim under bucket technology. I'll replace the spark plugs while I'm in there, and the coolant, then it's on to the new brake lines while I'm bleeding them anyway.
New bikes......so much more complicated than old Triumphs.

Got back to shim work on the V Strom after being interrupted for work for a few days...….don't these people realise I'd rather stay at home in winter?
A fine example of why one should support your local bike shop......they loaned their shim selection to me for a couple of days, and did not charge for the shims I exchanged. The owner did indicate that if I was a general a-hole, a charge would have been forthcoming.
Now, how did I take this bike apart?

I decided to go back to the stock swinger on my RZ motored rd350lc. I built the TZR250 arm up years ago and it's a cool piece in my opinion but she's long. Almost 4" longer than the stocker. I had to adapt a FZR600 shock to work with the extra leverage but the suspension worked well. The shorter arm should make it feel quite a bit more lively especially in the front. I built an extra brace into for a bit of a one off look. Got it back from Kamloops powder and am getting it back together.
