Title: Fatal mc accident,#1 and Rodeo
Post by: rz5mark on August 30, 2022, 08:27:51 PM
Large chev van pulling horse trailer pulled off rodeo going left  onto #1 into oncoming MC path. CPR then a blanket head to toe.

 Lets be careful out there...

Straight stretch...four lanes....the van owner must have missed seeing the MC.

Unfortunately not the whole truth.

From Rodeo drive heading west the road drops away at about 300 meters. You only have that 300 meters to see vehicles heading east to Kamloops when turning right or left off Rodeo and left from #1 to Rodeo.

Yes the 70 yo did not see the 80yo rider (and the MC was a flattish grey). Add in the reaction time of people this age... I wondered if the MC speed will be determined and public?

No matter who was right or wrong, it’s tragic.

Absolutely.

Felt horrible for the driver also. If the rider was doing maybe 140kmh+ it might have been unavoidable.

The fastest I ever rode was 132 mph.  I was passing a Z28 Camaro at the time.  Nowadays I get up to maybe 70 mph and I start asking myself "What the hell are you doing?  You're 72 years old!"  I don't know how other oldtimers ride but I hope it's something similar.

News reports say "a man in his 80's" so he was possibly older than 80.

About 150mph/250kmh on my 88 zx10 heading towards the ferry from Nakusp. Weird and spooky, I was thinking about wheel bearings/deer. After coming down to 120km's you feel like you could step off and walk.

Whether the rider was "in the right", or "in the wrong", the motorcyclist always loses the physical engagement with a 4 wheeled vehicle.

ALWAYS,,,,,ALWAYS ride on the street as if you are invisible. Assuming you are seen by any others will be a fatal mistake.

Good advice.
