Title: Falkland Rodeo
Post by: hardrockminer on May 23, 2022, 08:34:22 AM
Sweetums and I rode to Falkland yesterday to attend the rodeo, or "Stampede" as it's labelled.  It wasn't your typical quiet Sunday Falkland afternoon!

What a crowd!  There were probably about 2,000 people in attendance.  Cars lined both sides of the main streets, including the highway all the way West past the 90 km/hr sign.  We watched steer bulldogging, calf roping, bronc riding, barrel racing and bull riding.  Weather was perfect...sunny and 20 degrees.  Walking around the Stampede grounds felt a bit like trying to walk through downtown Tokyo.  People were everywhere.  The photos show one of the two grandstands.  Both were full and there were hundreds of people sitting or standing on the surrounding grass.  For $13.50 per ticket it was good entertainment value.

That is the most people we have seen since we moved here. Big line ups for the dance and pub last night. The Ranch was closed do to staff shortage.

I didn't realize you were back or we would have stopped in.  We were on the Goldwing...came across on 97 and went back that way.

I bet they were.
Just read that the 100th anniversary had 10,000 . Before we bought this property the lady that owned it had about 50 trailers along the creek for the rodeo.
