Looking for a truck for my son

So, my son who lives in Vernon is looking for a pickup truck.  Looking for something like a 2016-2018 Toyota Tacoma SR5 4x4 Access Cab. 

I think those are actually not easy to come by.  In any case, if someone comes across a good used Toyota 4x4, please let me know.

The one we found is a 2019 Tacoma Xtracab, 6sp manual, canopy, roof rack, newer tires plus studded winters, many extras.  Kinda high kms, 180k kms.  I’ve not seen it but my son says it’s awesome.  They’ve agreed on price pending my son able to get financing.  Hope it goes through.  My son is in fairly desperate need of a vehicle to suit his needs and is new enough not to require repairs for a while.

I was looking at some new ones but they don't make a 3/4 ton or a 1 ton in a 8 ft box or I would consider it. Big 3 doesn't want the competition.

  I would not be concerned about that high mileage  on a  2019 Tacoma Ross. That indicates overwhelming  highway use, far and away the least ‘wearing’ on any vehicle, particularly a manual clutch.  Winter weather highway stone chips along the front  are indicators of highway,,,the only negative of winter highway use.  2019 Tacoma v6 has chain drive top end rather than the early belt drive top end, so no need for twin belt changes every 96k,,,,,so that engine is approaching  the apex of engineering reliability  in general .
  That era of Tacomas hold their value very well for a reason. Alas like all engines, minimal oil changes will destroy all engines.  It really is the main reason that engines fail prematurely. A record book of regular maintenance is pure gold to look at when considering purchase of a used vehicle.

  I remember buying my Ranger in 2007, the other two lads I worked with said I was an idiot. I paid $22,900 for the thing new. They paid $33,000 for their 2008 Tacomas.  18 yrs later they are both into their 3rd Tacomas, for a total cost before trade in of easily over $110,000. My POS Ranger now at 392,000 kms, original everything under the hood except  an alternator last winter, including original water pump,,,,
 The point I’m making,,, maintenance, maintenance, maintenance, maintenance!!

I would agree, oil and filter every 10k religiously. Had a ranger with a 2.3l, it held 5 liters of oil ang got new oil and filter every 5-10k. Ran like a clock at 312km's. Motors double in size take 5 liters of oil.

oils still coming out pretty clean, synthetic.

I’ve always changed oil as per the manufacturer’s specifications.  In all my years of driving, I’ve never had oil related issues.

My driving is mostly hyw, Cherry Creek to work. 30k one way.
