I don’t really know the value of these bikes. But $25K for a highly modified bike of that era is, to my mind, pie in the sky. Would have to be pristine, rock stock, and correct.

I agree Ross. I don't know the specs well but those pipes....and the rear shocks....and. the front fork reflectors...all wrong.

I spotted it and put it here, to show that many times, the aftermarket mods , and ESPECIALLY in this case, the year of manufacture have a big impact on the retail value of a machine. $25cdn is actually a conservative easily collected value of a mint stock 1972 750 H2.
If this bike was sold with the original exhaust [$4000] original carbs and airbox, it would still be $7000 overvalued. 1974-75 models are just not as valued, even if they are better overall bikes. Much like a 1979 CBX versus a 1980/81/82.
The current 'cafe racer' scene where not very collectable 1970's - 80's Japanese are subjected to all manner of destruction, hacksawing the back of the bike, wooden flat seat, weird exhaust, is not usually an issue with me. But when these owners, with "inner artistic drive" feel the need to destroy quite sought after bikes to express themselves artistically. While doing this is actually destroying it's value, in typical status of artistic people, they feel these 'personalization's' are raising the value. Much like art galleries these days, pictures on canvas of paint seemingly thrown in anger on the canvas, or piles of repurposed garbage piled into intricate shapes,,,, needing a 5 paragraph dissertation to explain what the art gallery visitor is looking at.
Morning rant done.

In the car world. Well restored classics with tasteful, period correct modifications or upgrades are accepted and the modifications generally don't reduce the value.
If you've found some hard-to-find, desireable, vintage speed parts for your machine, I don't think it should reduce the value.

Agreed. Tasteful period mods or accessories are usually not a problem.
Ever tried to find a reasonable set of Kerker aftermarket exhaust. Old unobtainable with known performance race track wins hold their value.
