I’m wondering if anyone is heading to Kelowna from Vernon sometime in the not too distant future.  My son is having surgery hopefully today in Vernon.  I’ll be in Vernon until he can manage on his own. Probably several weeks at least.

The issue is that his vehicle is in Kelowna and we will need to retrieve it sometime soon.  So if I could hitch a ride down there, that would be great.

Cheers,
Ross

Badly broken right ankle.  Probably going into surgery just now.  I’ll pick him up this afternoon.  He lives on his own in a basement suite.  No weight bearing minimum 6-8 weeks.  So no work, driving, shopping, etc.

I live beside YLW, so I'm likely about the closest. Can I come to get you in the morning?

There you go, Ross, more offers of help than requirements of help.

Hey Mike,

Awesome.  Thanks so very much Mike.  Howard had called me yesterday with an offer to come pick me up as well.  I jumped the gun a bit though.  I’m going to have to wait a couple of days to get the truck.  I’ll have to stay close by until he feels a bit better.  I’ll shout out again in a couple of days.

Before he broke his ankle he was getting ready to order winter tires for his truck from someone in Kelowna.  Perhaps we’ll get that going and have it done when when I come down to get the truck.

I’ll shout out again in a couple of days.

Cheers,
Ross

You guys are awesome

Sounds good, Ross. We're here when you need us.

I had some work done in Vernon when I broke my shoulder. Excellent surgeon - I think her name was Kate Something-or-other.

My son’s surgeon was Dooley.  Spoke briefly with him pre surgery.  All business, no nonsense.

When I was walking around the hospital (I got lost on the way out), the place was dead.  Lots of empty beds and no one around.  On Friday night, apparently the emergency room was very quiet.  We were called Sunday to be at the hospital at 8:00 Monday (yesterday).  He was in surgery at about 11:00 and I took him home around 1:30.  Super quick, I thought.

Uh, should you say "dead", when referring to a hospital?

Gotta ask Ross, how did your son break his ankle?

It’s amazing how such simple sh*t can upend things.  He was camping Friday evening, and as the camp fire ban had been lifted, he was chopping firewood for the weekend.  He stepped back onto one of the rounds.  Rolled his ankle and broke it.  The break really shifted laterally requiring surgery.

Dam. Pain +.   I’ve broken fingers, and 2 ribs before, never a main limb.

I’m dealing with very uncomfortable catheter,,,,,extremely uncomfortable ,,,,,,,,for another 6 days. I cannot imagine the misery of someone whom must wear one of these for a lifetime.

Heh heh.  When I was in hospital in New Zealand, I didn’t want them to take the catheter out!  It was so painful for me to move at all.  It was great to have the nurses empty my pee bag.
