I'm interested in a belt drive electric bicycle.  However I have not seen them with a rear shock, which I also like because of the smoother ride.

A guy at work has a belt drive conventional bike with planetary rear hub gears. He really likes it, dead quiet too.

That's what I've read....very quiet.  They don't use a derailleur so there is no opportunity to put a shock absorber on the rear.  My Kona is a soft tail and I really like it for taking the bounce out of trails.

I have a hard-tail EMTB. I added a shock-absorbing seat post. It makes the seat even smoother than the front forks. Best thing I could ever do to improve a bike. Worth considering if you find a bike you like that doesn't have a rear spring.

I tend to ride the gravel trails, rather than the parallel paved ones, just because the bike is so smooth with that seat post.
