A local bike , Burnaby. I recognize this as an SF2, with Brembo front disc brakes, and spoked wheels.
These are incredibly overbuilt engines, superior components in every manner when it was built. I will question the asking price , and will say I personally think this is an unmotivated seller, especially when they mention a missing side cover, and a dent in the tank, this asking price should have 100 point condition beside it.

Nice how he avoids any photo of the side with the missing cover.

Yeah. He thought nobody would notice that.

This is the same Laverda that I had seen advertised a couple(?) of months or so ago. The asking price at that time was around the $17,000 mark (I don't recall the exact amount at this point). A rather rare and desirable motorcycle in my estimation, but an effort should be made to correct the faults listed by the current owner, especially at the dollar amount it is advertised at. I don't recall any Laverda motorcycle with a seat such as the one on this 750. It could be original seat but I don't believe so.
Very nice motorcycle though...

You are correct, the seat has been modified with more padding, and IMO has detracted from it's visual appeal. The semi ape hanger handlebars do nothing for the looks either. Personalization of a motorcycle especially with the current 'cafe' and 'rockers 21st century' term that I made up, often destroys the bikes value. Stock and standard is the way to go, even if it's a Suzuki Madura 1200. Well,,,,,I may need to think a bit on that.
I'm plainly biased to Laverda bikes, but will pick apart any machine unbiasedly.

Yes...I am in complete agreement with you on the seat configuration. It just doesn't seem to work visually.
I didn't take notice of the mounted handlebars until you mentioned it in your response above. The bars, and windshield as well for that matter, belong elsewhere.
It almost feels like the intention was to convert this gem to the cruiser look from the 80s??!!
Similar to the big 4 from Japan - Suzukis "L" series, Yamahas "Special", Kawasaki and Honda had their versions of the cruiser as well. Generally speaking, they were all fine motorcycles. Different strokes for different strokes.
This Laverda deserves to be brought back to its original glory.

Completely agree. I’ll piss off some members here, but there is a reason that the early Japanese and Italian cruisers, mostly were and still are an economic bargain. Won’t add any more to that.
Laverda as a company didn’t build a ‘Harley copy’, although they did build a decently capable dual sport called the Chott. They built traditional machines of sporting nature, using their tiny engineering team with the help of their agricultural technical base. The 750 SF series , seen in this machine for sale, spawned the extraordinary SFC750 which has incredible historical success on the track.
With incredible backup parts expertise and technical advice of the biggest parts supplier in the world in Nakusp, BC, I see no reason why this machine should be navigating anywhere with a missing side cover, and, being offered for sale incomplete for 35% over its realistic current value.
Sorry for the vent.
