We're getting the hell out!

I haven't been on in a while but I thought I would check in.
The wife unit and I have made a major life change and I wanted to share it with everyone.
I'm quitting my job and selling my house in the lower mainland of British Columbia. We've bought a 44 acre farm in Young, Saskatchewan. Deal closed this morning.
No more car restoration, car shows, solving other peoples problems for them or taking showers in various automotive fluids.
We're packing up our house, motorcycles, cars and horses and getting the hell out. I've had enough of the crazy, enough of people etc.
The town has 300 people in it and I live 10 minutes outside of it.
I'm still going to check in here now and then but I'm going to be busy being a vegetable farmer instead.

Congrrats on the move Shawn. I don't blame anyone who wants to leave the LM. It's part of why we left.
I grew up in Saskatoon so I know where Young is...about an hour SE. You may also be aware that there is a vintage car club in Saskatoon called Draggins. I have a friend who is a member.
So you are now the proud owner of 44 acres of good Saskatchewan dirt!

Good for you, I hope it all works out for you. When you're in the rat race race and you feel the rats are winning...I get it.
Prepare for a way to embrace cold and windy in the winter. My dad was raised in Indian Head and my in-laws are around Saskatoon. Get into curling or even some form of restoration as I know you're a talented guy, it will make the winter easier.

So it's a done deal, eh? Right on guys! All the very best wishes to you and Jen for your future there. I really hope you guys find what you're looking for, it sounds like you've got your little piece of paradise. I also hope you know all the jibes about moving to So-scratch-me-one were in jest, and just masking a raging jealousy. The growing rat race here is exactly that. Erica and I will be ready for a change in the next coming years but have no idea what that might be. Good on you guys for taking the bull by the horns whilst you're still young enough to have the energy to do it. Just please try to stay away from the boots and buckles for as long as you can
. Try not to let the locals cut off that pony tail. And, most importantly, keep (and ride) all the Guzzis.
I want to express thanks to you both for your always enthusiastic engagement in the club. You both have stepped up many times. Sunday mornings will be a little more sedate (and quieter!) without you. You'll both be missed for sure.
Cheers, Rob
p.s. Definitely do keep in touch through the site, and let us know in pics & words the life of the 'gentleman' farmer (start your own thread diary?).
p.p.s. It's only an 18 hour drive from here (google maps) if anyone want to visit! It's halfway between Calgary and Winnipeg.

Nice! Good for you and Jen, it will be a great change of lifestyle. My wife is from Saskatchewan and we love being there on occasion to visit family. You will really enjoy it.
Frank
ps I will be down soon or maybe we can get the club stuff in the hands of my buddy Joe, maybe I can ask him to roll by and grab it.

Nice Move. Joining the legions deserting the Lower mainland chaos. I left back in '07 and haven't looked back. Having worked and lived in the B.C. interior a few times. It was natural for me to move to Kamloops as my daughter was established there with the grand kids. Do stay in touch on the site.

Shawn, if the farm doesn't work out you can always become another Captain Jack.

More like this:

As for the car thing, hell no, I'm all done with that. I'm tired of solving other peoples problems, it's time to deal with my own S#*t for a change.
There's an extra bedroom, inside parking for motorcycles and lots of camping space if anyone wants to stop and visit.
This is the spot if anyone feels like coming out:

Not much ice or snow left in that photo. Must have been taken in July.

44 acres grows a lot of vegetables. What r u planning on growing? How and where do you market your crops.
Living in the Yakima Valley Area we do have large vegetable crop farming. Filipino and Japanese families could buy/lease land on the Yakama Reservation when it was outlawed in Washington State in the early 20th century. Some of these families are still farming today.
Shawn, good luck with your new adventure. Your speed may slow down but Kawasaki Green is big on the farm:
