the project is slowly coming along. engine and tranny done and in. just trying to tighten up all the loose ends. i think i am going to enjoy that new electric starter. don't ask how much it cost. other upgrades include tri-spark ign, came with the bike, podtronic regulator, double coil, new avons, all new bearings, the list goes on and on. going with the fire flake royal blue paint. trying to make it as original as possible but not that worried about it. it won't be an S but more like a roadster. only difference is the pipes. sorry but i can't stand those high one side pipes.

I’m a big fan of both the ‘S’ and ‘SS’ models’ exhaust treatment, but luckily for all, vin or serial numbers do not generally designate model
Type with Commando’s.

finally got the paint job done last sat and today on the road. seems to be running good but tomorrow's road test will tell all. i love the new electric start, so much better than kicking. it was a very satisfying build, a little over a year. just took a long time to get the decals so i could finish the clear coat.

The belt drive should solve all of the left side oil puddles. Good on the electric start as most of us have worn out kicker legs

That is REALLY nice, great work. Seems odd that people on this site still break out the wrenches.

So that belt drive primary, you're still using oil right? It is a sort of a cooling agent to the electric system as well as a lubricant for the belt drive. The only zero oil belt drive systems I'm aware of, need holes drilled for cooling.

nope, no oil in the primary. nothing about putting oil in in the instructions. had to put barnnet style clutch plates in to run dry. went for a longer ride and it is running great. another ride coming up today. only problem is the centre stand spring is week. looking for a new one. getting the bars and controls set for me.
