This song has been in my head all day today.  Great song but I hope I'm not listening to it again tomorrow.

This one just shuffled through my playlist, hadn’t heard it in a while. Late 60’s, and a good song.   https://youtu.be/w_inXx-J3nU?si=vNcMKw8hLtV7Ilvk

Ahh!  The Youngbloods!  Great pop music!

This lady was popular from the 1960's to at least the turn of the century.  She retired from touring a few years ago and died earlier this year.  This probably isn't her most popular song, but it's one out of a long string of hits over her fantastic career.

In 1968 I bought an album, the first one produced by this group.  It was different music than what I was used to...at the time I think I was into Steppenwolf and similar bands.  But the music on this album attracted me.  The group was tight and the singing had emotion behind the songs.  At the time I didn't know that one of the members, a Canadian was responsible for most of the song writing.  After the group broke up he went on to record on his own, but became much more successful doing music for movies.  He died earlier this year, and I was listening to a old interview show with him on CBC where he talked about his life and some of the songs he wrote.  This was one of them.

“Once were Brothers” . I caught that replay  of Robbie on CBC as well. Personally think they were one of the finest groups ever. I have watched and listened to everything ever produced by all of them.  The work done with Martin Scorsese is truly remarkable.

I didn't see the documentary but I've watched the farewell concert many times.  They all had great stage presence and you could tell they loved what they were playing.  It's too bad Robbie never sang what he wrote, but with three great singers in front of him I guess he let the others do what they did so well.  He definitely had a talent for song writing.

Around the same time I got interested in this group.  I thought they had really good musical taste but maybe needed a singer.  They did quite well without one.  The song was one that I listened to many times after smoking a doobie.

This is another band I was listening to around that time.  I thought they were destined for big things.  But at the time I also thought there was no future for MacDonalds because they didn't do car service like A&W did.  There's some nice steel guitar in this one.

Welcome to 2024!

Today's song is from the 70's.  This group put out a couple of albums but perhaps were better known for their offbeat name.  Their music was pretty good though.  I don't know why they didn't continue.

As the 70's progressed I began to listen to more country rock sounds.  This group was a highly successful one at fusing country with rock.  The leader is gone now, but the story he tells in this song is probably more applicable today than it was back then.

Not a country rock band, but I spent some time listening to this guy back in the 70's.  Old time rock and roll.

Back to country rock again, this group came up in that genre but they eventually moved more towards rock than country.  But for several years they pumped out some fine country rock songs.  This is one.
