I think it was problems with his hearing.  Tom Power interviewed him on CBC a couple of months ago.  Interesting discussion.  His latest album is thoughts at the end of a life.

That’s it, I remember now,  I heard some of that interview and must say a fascinating man and career. I should give the latest work a listen to hear what he has to say. The ideas he discussed were good to me so it could be very much worth it.

This singer became very popular in the 70's.  He had many hits before dying in a plane crash.  This is one of them.

  October 19, 2023, Billboard released their top 500 “Pop” songs of all time.
 I’m not super impressed with the top 10 on this list. #3 - The Temptations with “My Girl”, #7 - Michael Jackson with “Billie Jean”, and #10 The Beatles with “I Want to Hold Your Hand”, I’ll give a nod of approval to. Maybe I’ll give a not to #2 , Abba with “Dancing Queen”, just cause it is kinda catchy chorus. The rest I think are utter refuse. I didn’t bother looking at the rest of the 490 on the list.

Indeed!  What a load of crap!  The Macarena is the #1 pop song???  One thing of note, the category is pop songs.  This guy was known as the King of Pop.  Surely he should be right up near the top.  Here is one candidate.

You may remember this song from the late 60's.  The singer was the first Jamaican to crack the US charts, and he led the way for people like Jimmy Cliff and Bob Marley.  In those days I thought the song was weird, but liked the beat.  Nowadays I like the song much more.

Oh Yeah, 14 at the time and starting to really pay attention to music and girls of course that summer also got my first 9 transistor Panasonic  radio!  Life was good and yeah I liked this tune plus a lot more that came out of Jamaica. Vacationed and worked there many times, I love it there the mudic, the food and many fine people over the years.

October 24, 1972, Stevie Wonder released the single "Superstition". It reached #1 Billboard, #1 R&B, #11 UK, won 2 Grammy's, and is rated #12 all time greatest song by Rolling Stone Magazine.

This band was incredibly productive over a brief period in the late 60's and early 70's.  The lead singer had incredible voice control.
