That's a really nice cover of what I think is one of the top 5 Beatles tunes.  Many people are unaware that Eric Clapton was on guitar for that one.  George invited him to record with the Beatles.  George was late to song writing but after a couple of so so tunes he wrote really great music.  With 3 great songwriters in the group it was inevitable that they would go their own ways.

Recently it was the 10th anniversary of the death of this important blues singer and guitar player.  Here he is playing lead with Eric Clapton playing rhythm.

At one time in my life I thought this was one of the best bands ever.  They were active in the 70's but faded away towards the end.  This is one of their better songs.

 On this date , August 5th, 1967, Lulu released the single “To Sir With Love”, which spent 6 weeks at #1 on the Billboard Hits list, was named 1967 Song of the Year, Best song track in the 1968 Academy Awards,  and was the title theme song for Sydney Portier’s epic movie of the same name.

  August 8th, 1969, the Canadian group The Original Caste released the single “ One Tin Soldier”, reaching #1 in Canada and #34 in the USA. It was also used on the soundtrack for the movie Billy Jack.
