I thought it was George who wrote this song.  Should have been, but no.  It was John.

Great song performed by daughter Ashley and long time band member Carl Jackson: (fiddle, steel guitar, fancy pickin)

Funny coincidence...a few days ago I was thinking about John Hartford, who wrote that song.  The song I listened to was this one.

50 years ago this guy made himself known, mainly because of his weird onstage outfits. Super talented, and visionary artist for sure. Went on to become one of the 70s and 80s iconic music artists. Passed away a few years back. This is maybe my favourite tune of his.       https://youtu.be/bJO97AKDgH0

There were a lot of stories about his sexual preferences...occasionally young girls.

Thi singer has had two careers.  His first one was as big as it gets, but he decided to retire to raise his kids.  Then he came back and is as big as ever.  This is from his first career..

This song is filled with rock and roll energy.  It's the kind of song you would expect from this guy, who sounds a lot like Mitch Ryder.

British heavy metal band Motorhead does a country blues song. Lemmy plays blues harp and the drummer plays an acoustic guitar. Rock On!

I would never had guessed that was Motörhead, liked it. Story about George Thorouhgood,  my wife sat next to him and his manager on a flight from yyz to yvr. Back in the late eighties. Introduced himself as George, doing a concert in Vancouver he says. She had no idea who he was, so little was said during the flight. When I picked her up at the airport, she asked me had I heard of George don’t know his last name, doing a concert on weekend. First thing I say is “did you get his autograph”. If looks could kill, I would be dead.

This is an early Joni Mitchell song, sung by Joni later in her career.  From about the mid point onwards you can hear a saxophone.  That's Wayne Shorter, a renowned jazz saxophonist who died recently.  There isn't much sax in the song.  He clearly knew when NOT to play.

There are a lot of live performances of this song but I chose a studio version because of it's clarity.  It's a classic R&R song that woke up an entire generation of kids that were tired of listening to Patti Page and Doris Day.

RIP Lynyrd Skynyrd.  Hard to survive a plane crash.

This song is one of the best from one of the greatest bands ever.  They split up at the peak of their career.  Imagine a band with three lead singers.  The Beatles come to mind, but who else?

Ringo Starr and His All Star Band. Edgar rips the sax around 3:50 and Hamish Stuart's funk groove is more than the "Average White Band"

Yees.....very cool...playing two saxes.  I've always liked the sound of a sax in rock and roll.  Bruce Springsteen's band had Clarence Clemens, a wonderful sax player.  Ringo has had some great all star bands over the years.  I think he's got another one this year.  There's a little bit of sax in this oldie.
