The background to this song is very interesting.  It's sung by a guy in love with his best friend's wife.  Strangely enough, the friend also wrote a song about his wife.

Roberta has an amazingly smooth voice!

There were a lot of protest songs in the 70's.  This was one of the more popular ones.

Today is the anniversary of JFK's assassination.  I thought it would be appropriate to play this in his honour.

"Killing Me Softly with His Song" is a song composed by Charles Fox with lyrics by Norman Gimbel. The lyrics were written in collaboration with Lori Lieberman after she was inspired by a Don McLean performance in late 1971. Denied writing credit by Fox and Gimbel, Lieberman released her version of the song in 1972. In 1973 it became a number-one hit in the United States, Australia and Canada for Roberta Flack.
This is an acapella cover by Citizen Queen: The human voice is an amazing instrument, and the harmonies are not too bad either.

I love the internet!  Songs from the past that can no longer be found in record stores are available here for free!  Here is one of them.

If you like true (Hank Williams style) country then you will like this guy.  He's retired now but was on top of the country hit parade for several decades.  A true cowboy who worked the rodeo circuit.

They became popular with songs like this, a cute little piece.  But they would have been a flash in the pan if they hadn't begun to experiment with new things as they progressed.

Apparently she didn't live forever. Shocked. She had a great voice, notable for its power.

Here's a familiar country tune, distinctive of the times.  The singer could easily have had a career as an impressionist, as he was able to accurately reproduce many country singers' voices.

This guy was a country music legend and a film star as well.  This song was part of a highly successful movie and a hit on country stations.

This is a truly amazing piece of music, and a tribute to the genius experimental mindset of the band who recorded it.  It was on the Beatles Revolver album, recorded around 1966.  Back then records were mostly done live in the studeo.  Recording was either 2 track or 4 track.  Somehow the Beatles managed to come up with this song, which was recorded at a fast forward speed that was then slowed down to the speed on the second link.  It was the beginning of their experiments with double tracks, overdubs, backwards pieces etc.  But who would have thought of it back then....except these guys?  First link is the song.  Second link is the record at actual speed.
