In the summer of 1972 I was a student, working in a mine in NW Ontario.  In an effort to earn a bit more money before returning to school I took a job as a bartender in a local beer joint.  This song was popular with everyone.  They must have worn it out on the jukebox, as I think I heard it about a thousand times.

This group never really achieved their due when they began to make records.  They did a great version of Wild Night, by Van Morrison that I posted some time ago.  Here is another song by them, this time one of their own about a cheap trick.

She's really good on those spoons!  Back around 1980 I spent half a summer in Quebec City.  Evenings are really nice there, with entertainment like this lady frequenting the boardwalk along the St Lawrence River.  I met a really good spoons guy there.  He made his out of wood and was selling them.  I bought a set for $20 and had them for years, but they've disappeared along with a lot of other stuff.

This came up immediately following.  I love these quys' videos.  Too bad they're not touring right now.

Steve Vai is a terrific guitarist.  I think he actually stole the show in that video.  Cool looking guy to boot!

This song came out just after I left high school.  Initially I thought it was a gimmick way to popularity, but the band had several great hits in the 70's.

A lot of great rock names came out of Detroit in the 60s and 70s.  This guy was one of them...still in the news but no longer playing as far as I know.

Fell down a Nick Drake rabbit-hole today. Great finger picker but depression got the better of him and he was gone when he was only 26.

Here is another great rocker from Detroit.  There are two versions of the same song, done about 50 years apart.  You can hear the difference in his voice.

Yes, Nick went too soon. I regularly get caught up in his stuff.
Mitch sounds great in them both!

Laura Love
Was amazed with the energy and voice of this musician.  I was introduced to her music outside of Goldendale, WA. She started her concert at Maryhill Museum with Amazing Grace and then kept the energy going for the entire show.
The first 7 minutes will let you hear her yodle.  She has written a book about growing up in Omaha NE.
