He was a great guitar player, somewhat unrecognized for his talent and skill.  I didn''t know that he had sung that song, which was popularized by Rex Harrison of all people.  Not one of my favourite versions...it stressed Rex's voice too much.

This band had a string of hits back in the 70's.  They were friends of the Beatles and played with them from time to time, although not when the Beatles were together.  This is one of their hits.

This is a cowboy song.  There have been a lot of versions over the decades but I still like the original from the 1940's.

This lady has written dozens of hit songs, some for herself but many for other artists.  This song is one she did herself.

Always loved the James Taylor Carol King documentary.  Over the course of her five-decade career, the 79-year-old King wrote more than 400 songs that were recorded by over 1,000 artists, including “The Loco-Motion,” recorded by Little Eva; “Pleasant Valley Sunday” by The Monkees; “Up On The Roof,”  recorded by The Drifters and later by James Taylor, and Aretha Franklin belting out“You Make Me Feel (Like a Natural Woman)”?

Here is one of the 3 Kings:  Freddie King was not related to B.B. King or Albert King. He grew up in Dallas and moved to Chicago as a teenager. His signature sound combined the open string sound of Texas blues with the gritty, screeching sound of Chicago blues. Freddie King was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2012.

This guy used to play bass for James Brown at one time.  You can hear the influence in this song.

It's St Patrick's Day today.  This song honours all true blue Irishmen I have known.

This is from the best (in my opinion) rock album of all time.  A song about drugs....

The energy emitted by this song is the reason rock and roll took over in the 50's.  Can you imagine being 16 at the dance when this song is played?

John Lennon produced an amazing number of songs over his relatively short life.  I can only imagine how much more he would have made if he had lived to today.  Here is one of his later songs...an upbeat one.

Harmonica makes me shiver up and down my back bone!  Here is another example, although I don't know who is playing the harp.  The singer is Harry Manx.
