Peter Sarstedt name seemed familiar to me, clicked on the link and it all came back. Have not heard that song since 1970 or thereabouts. It was different then, and still is. Now on the phone playlist with all the other weird and wonderful music of the time.

There were some really good Canadian bands in the 70's. With the advent of the CanCon regulations they were able to have more local exposure. Some groups like this one were staples on AM radio.  Cool

My parents sent us to a church boarding high school outside of Spokane WA (to ensure marriage inside the church).  To be musically educated the school offered a package of symphony season tickets.  We would get on a school bus, dressed up, and attend concerts and operas.
The summer of 74 I worked for my Dad who was a brick mason.  We were building hop kilns with puma-crete block.  I convinced him to allow me to travel to Spokane for 3 summer concerts.  The day before travelling in passing he asked what the symphony was playing.  I had already purchased the tickets, but he was a little shocked to learn the concerts were for Bachman Turner Overdrive, Grand Funk Railroad, and Chicago.  He really did not understand that a band could be called Grand Funk Railroad.  My ears hummed for 2 days after the Grand Funk Railroad concert.  I now respond to my wife with "what did you say"Huh?Huh?

Going back a bit here, but this is a classic we have all heard. As a kid it was all over the radio, new the name of it, but not the artists. When I put it into my phone tunes their names appeared. Has been covered by others like Beck and Santorini, but the original is still the best.        https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2rwfqsjimRM

I'd forgotten all about "Sleep Walk", but when I listened to the youtube, all kinds of memories came roaring back.    Good choice.

This song is from one of the best bands of all time.  I like the initial drums...sounds like the drummer is playing a cardboard box.

For me "Ramble on" has to be my favourite Led Zep song. Everything about it is just right.

I'm surprised their music is still played and appreciated by young people today.  If I think back to when I was in my teens/twenties I didn't care much for Glenn Miller.
