That song chokes me up!

This song is from Sgt Peppers.  It's one of only a handful of songs where Ringo is the lead singer.  His range is narrow and his ability to hit notes is suspect but he does a great job on this one.

Way back when I was a little younger, a young lady I knew had an LP of some obscure band, and she had it going on her stereo all the time. The singer was terrible, had a voice like fingernails on a chalk board. But she grew on me over time, and these days she is considered to be legendary. Her self destructive lifestyle led to her demise.  This one is her live,  https://youtu.be/7uG2gYE5KOs.

I think she was popular because she was able to transmit huge emotion when she sang.  Not because she had a nice voice.

This song is a favourite of mine.  It appeared on Joplin's last album as an instrumental because she died the day before she was supposed to record the vocals.  Great lyrics..."bucked off my easy ride!"  I often wonder how she would have sang it.

This band had many hits and is still playing despite several members having died.  This was one of their more popular hits.

In honor of my Northern Brother Truckers.  Decided we needed a trucker song for political discourse;)

Tom was a true Canadian folk singer.  He started his career in Timmins at the Maple Leaf Hotel.  I lived in Timmins for a few years back in the '90's and '00's.  He was as much loved as Shania Twain, another Timmins native.  The Maple Leaf Hotel burned down around the end of the '90's but by that time Tom was gone, so I never saw him play.  He also wrote about Sudbury (The boys are gettin stinko while the girls are playing bingo on a Sudbury Saturday Night.). I lived there for a couple of years and can attest to what Saturday nights were like.

This band has a lot of really good running tunes.  The lead guitarist just had a birthday.  Unfortunately the bass guitarist recently died.

In 1980 John Lennon was shot and killed.  Shortly after, George wrote this song in a tribute to his friend and former bandmate.

This guy has made music for more than six decades.  He's experimented with many different genres and one could choose from many hits to illustrate his music.  Here's one of his later tunes.

A great song!  Was number 1 back around 1971.

This song was written by John Lennon during the Beatles' trip to India to learn meditation.  Prudence in the song is the sister of Mia Farrow.  She was so obsessed by meditation that she would not take time for anything else.

A song from the '60's.  This was a big hit at our high school graduation party.

This guy was one of very few to get credits on a Beatles album.  He was a solid musician in his own right.  Unfortunately he left us a few years ago.
