In 1968 the Beatles created Apple Records as a way for them to produce their own records, and also to produce new upcoming artists.  James Taylor and Badfinger were several of their clients, but this lady was the very first.

In the early 1960's there was a lull in popular music.  The crooners were aging.  Buddy and Richie died in a plane crash.  Recently returned from his army service Elvis was moving into Grade B movies.  But he recorded this song.  I've heard it by Ry Cooder, but Elvis was the first as far as I know to record it.  I think I'll add it to my phone.

Ahh Lightfoot!  I saw him once many decades ago.  He disappointed me...was singing my favourite Lightfoot song "Sit Down Young Stranger" and he forgot the words!  I got over my disappointment.  I think he did too.  He recently performed a concert at the renovated Massey Hall, in Toronto to celebrate its re-opening.

Lots of snow yesterday.  I shovelled for almost three hours.  Every year I say enough is enough...I'm going to buy a snow blower.  But I never pull the trigger.  This year I SWEAR I'm buying one!

There is a program early Sunday morning on CBC that I listened to while running.  The announcer was interviewing a lady from Victoria, June Goldsmith.  She is a musician with a fantastic way of explaining classical music to make you really want to listen to it.  Here is a composition from Vivaldi that she discussed that got me interested in classical music.  It's called The Four Seasons, and I think Winter would be the right part to listen to today.

We are in the final countdown days to Christmas.  Somehow it snuck up on me this year.  It just doesn't feel like past Christmas's what with all the problems we've experienced, covid, the heat, the fires and smoke, and now the floods.  Still, many people are suffering far worse this year than me, so I should feel fortunate I guess. 

Christmas is supposed to be a time when we think of the less fortunate.  In hopes of getting into the Christmas spirit I've I cut my gift budget in half and donated the savings to the Chase Hamper Society, who provide gift baskets and food hampers to  local families in need.  I hope those of you who are struggling to get into the Christmas spirit can benefit from knowing this and will do something similar.  It really does make me feel more like Christmas and less like Scrooge.

You probably remember this song from the 1980's.  Lots of familiar faces in the accompanying video, but much younger looking of course.
