I've moved up to the '80's for this song.  The band put out a half dozen hits before fading away.  This was the first one I remember.

I woke up this morning with this song in my head.  Don't know why, but it's a great song by one of the greatest singers ever.

Here's an appropriate one for today from Johnny Cash, exhibiting his amazing vocal range of one note!  Wink Grin

Cash had a very strong low voice.  Hard to believe he started out singing rockabilly.

I learned something new yesterday.  It's the term "close harmony", which means singing harmony in the same octave.  This is the example that was used.  It's an older song from the Eagles, originally written by Steven Young in the late 60's.  The Eagles used to use it as a warm uip song in their dressing room, and eventually sand it on stage.

Still on close harmony...here's another example, this on from the first record put out by CS&N in 1969.

John Prine injected wry humour into many of his songs.  Dear Abby was one of his best, but this song is another one.  I think it clearly lays out why old people like us tolerate our spouses.

I missed posting a song for Joni Mitchell for her birthday two weeks ago.  She and I went to the same high school, although a few years apart.  I graduated....she didn't!

Belated Happy Birthday Joni!

This song is about someone whose wife left him, but he continued to love her many years after, until the day he died.

Wow!  What a change in his voice!  Surprised to see he's still alive, never mind singing.

I listen to Paul McCartney now, compared to early Beatles and I see a big difference there as well.  To me, his ability to carry a note is compromised.

There aren't many black country singers, but this guy was one of the greatest country singers ever.

Normally I don't post two songs in one day, but today is an important day.  Thirty years ago this singer, one of the best ever passed away.

If you carry the Disney Channal (I don't) you can watch the 3 part Peter Jackson series on the Making of the Let It Be album.  In honour of the album today's song is....
