Grand Funk were a great band!  I need to add some of their music to my phone.

This one goes back to the 60s.  Good harmony.  One hit wonder.

I'm off fishing for a few days so will not be posting for a while.

One thing about this thread is finding forgotten songs, thanks Steve and Hardrock. I keep my songs on the phone and wi-fi them when in the car. A couple of years ago Marie says my playlist sounds like an old boys club, no female singers. Sure there were, but part of a group like Fleetwood Mac, Mamas and Papas, 5th Dimension, etc. So went looking for some I remembered, and lo and behold, there were and are some fantastic female vocalists out there. Roberta Flack, Mary Wells, Dusty Springfield, Karen Carpenter, Shirley Bassey to mention just a few. Now she is happy. So here is one by a lady with a soulful voice, and unfortunately passed too young.

That was freakin’ amazing.  I remember hearing that song way back when, and watching Midnight Special on our black & white TV.  Don’t remember seeing that episode though.

Totally forgot about that group.  Great song!

Elvis made Hound Dog popular but he wasn't the first to sing it.  This is a great version by Big Mama Thornton, recorded four years before Elvis.  It's a great version by a great singer....listen to the howling at the end.

And here is the Elvis version.

It really is something g else. And even his whistling is fast pitch and on the mark. I’d like to find out the story behind speeding up the beat to supercharged levels. I know the studio version is not that fast.

On the female singers...I've posted a few...Alison Krause, Dolly and a few others.  Their voices tend to harmonize really well and I love harmony.

I've posted this song by We Five, which I really like and have on my phone.  But here is a live version by the Bangles that I also like.

Jeff Beck doesn't sing, but always seems to get his guitar to do that for him. Not as well known as the other two Yardbirds, Page and Clapton, but did his music his way. Here is one of his better known tracks, "Goodbye Pork Pie Hat" Yeah, strange title, don't know where that came from.

Beck is a brilliant guitarist...one of the very best.

Here is the original Pork Hat goodbye by Charles Mingus.  According to the internet he composed it as a farewell to his friend Lester Young, who wore them.
