George was married to Tammy Wynette, a terrific country singer herself.  Their marriage only lasted a few years but they continued to sing together long afterwards.  This song I think epitomizes their marriage.

This song is on my iphone.  I've always liked Allen Toussaint.  Never saw him in person.

BB King was a country music fan.  Here he is, playing a country tune with George Jones.

A song from Woodstock....a Beatles tune off Sargeant Pepper, sung by Joe Cocker.

Woodstock was a most incredible gathering of almost all of the rock musicians of the day.  Here is another beaut from a guy who is still playing.

The Beatles didn't attend Woodstock (They stopped touring in 1966) but their music was played by several attendees, including Joe Cocker mentioned earlier.  Ritchie Haven's played several Beatles tunes.  Here's one of them.

Another great band singing at Woodstock.  Gotta admire a drummer who sings.

Enough Woodstock for now.  This guy's been around forever.  Here he is singing about touring and making music.

Love that song.

A friend in Edmonton, who usually hosted a party every Friday night, with several sleep-over-victims, including your humble scribe, would always start Saturday morning by putting this song on the stereo.   Nobody woke up grumpy.   Good memories.   I must have had hair at that time.

There was a period in the '70's when I was into that kind of music.

Here's another old timer, but I think he's only singing in heaven  nowadays.  Was married to Jessie Coulter, another fine singer.

This guy is an unsung guitarist and also a great singer.  He has played in many big groups and never stood out but always shone.  In this song he shows both his guitar skills and his harmony singing.

Tom Petty is an under rated singer/songwriter.  Originally from Florida he moved to LA with the optimism that he would become a successful rock band.  And he did.  He didn't seem to care about playing second fiddle to other groups, including Bob Dylan with whom he toured for several years.  He was also a member of the Wilburys, along with Dylan, George Harrison and Roy Orbison...all better known than Petty.  Tom just wanted to perform and entertain, which he did virtually to his last day on earth.  Here is his title song from one of his albums.  It was a bit of a switch from his early music but highly successful.
