Always liked Lyle Lovett, saw him twice in Vancouver, both times as his Large Band.

The first time, Betty was working lots of overtime (manager at Woodwards), and was tired, and she fell asleep during several songs, then woke up applauding when everybody else clapped.

Maybe my favourite song:

Interesting...I never pictured him as a lounge singer, but that's how that song strikes me.

Lyle is quite fond on motorcycles too. Not sure how he got the hair into a helmet though...?

Billy Joel like 'Guzzis, that's ok.

Bruce Springsteen also like 'Guzzis which is unfortunate.

Lots of musicians like bikes.  Bob Dylan was in a serious accident on a bike when he was just starting out.  Steve Tyler, Elvis.  But I don't know any of them actually worked on their iron.

A lot of bands have sung songs about their lives as rock stars.  Most of them sing about the parties, drugs, groupies and boredom of day after day in hotels and buses.  I listen to them with interest because they open up a window into the life of a rock group.  The music and tempo varies from slow ballads to high intensity rock and roll.  AC/DC sang what is probably my favourite, partly because it was one of the highest intensity songs from a high intensity group, and partly because it's one of only a couple of rock songs with bagpipes.  Not your conventional rock instrument.

Does that make him a Texas lizard swinger?  I could never figure out how he managed to match up with Julia Roberts.  Maybe he has a true lizard.

For me, the eighties, music was a little weird. The beginning of girl power with Madonna, Prince and Cyndi Lauper among others getting too much air time. But there were a few I could listen to, and Stevie Ray Vaughn was it for me. An exceptional talent that was taken too soon in a helicopter crash in 1990, I think it was. His cover of the Ventures classic "Pipeline" with Dick Dale, was magic. Whenever it shuffles through on my playlist, it gets cranked up, and the air guitar comes out. Good stuff.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=56SAxtf-RTg

SRV gets a volume increase around here too. My wifes first husband was a musician so she got used to music being played plus he left her with a pretty good sound system. At least now she gets to hear really good music played loud, just like my neighbours.

My neighbours listened to Motorhead all day today.

Tomorrow, I'll let them listen to something else.

I love Stevie Ray Vaughn.  I try to imagine how much music he would have created if he had lived a normal lifetime.

I liked most '80's music...Huey Lewis, Michael Jackson, Eurythmics....here's a song by another '80's singer who died young.

Dennis Leary once said that it was a good thing John Lennon died when he did because we get to remember him in a nice way.

I'm glad there's no "fat Elvis" stage for SRV, Jimi, etc.

Nobody should end up like the Rolling Stones.

That's a great song, I hadn't heard it before.

As for the Rolling Stones...second best band ever....people have been saying that since the '70's but somehow they continue to fill concert arenas.  One huge difference between them and most other bands is that they are a concert band, not a studio band.
