This is a song by Hoyt Axton, a country singer from the 20th century. It was covered by Ringo Starr but I like this version better. Listen carefully and you will hear Cheech and Chong in the middle.

Those are all good songs to bring back memories of what I was doing when they were hits.
There is a Beatles channel on Sirius that I like to listen to. They used to talk about how good John & Paul were as writers but I've gained a far better appreciation of George's songs. Here's one of them.

I like the 'Tiny Desk Concert' series on YouTube for finding new music/musicians. Lots of well known players, as well...all playing live.
I found this young fella lately too.....crazy talent, not just a novelty....

That young fella is amazing! I've often wondered how a pianist can play independently with each hand at the same time. This guy goes one step farther.
George Harrison wrote "While My Guitar Gently Weeps"...maybe my favourite Beatle song.
I heard a story told by Paul McCartney, who was told that the Who played the loudest music in the world. He told his fellow Beatles they could do loud music better than anyone else, and Helter Skelter was the result. To me it was the beginning of heavy metal music. When they recorded it in the studio they apparently kept it up for about a half hour, leading Ringo to quip about his blisters at the end of the song.

The theme I think I'm seeing here, namely true talent. Voice gift, and the classic chorus singing, classic harmony, instrument talent, song writing, classic story within a song. Not like the horrific music of 2021. Computerized rubbish, corrected voice,, absolute vile.
BTW, I grew up watching Burt Sugerman's Midnight Express on TV as a kid. It was always live talent, no voice dubbed, you bring your live show. Here's a mid 70's live cut of how group harmony love songs should be done:

I wasn't aware of the Midnight Special. Atlanta Rhythm Section are one of my favourite bands. Frampton....not so much.
Yes, a good voice and good harmonies. John, Paul and George had great harmony. I think as importantly is the ability to connect with the listener to convey the emotion in the song. If the listener feels what the singer is singing then the singer has done his/her job.
This is an interesting site. I've talked with him via email. He's a teacher in Kamloops who puts programs of "Hurtin music" together weekly. Lots of obscure songs, but lots of well known ones too.

I find I enjoy a lot of music much more when I watch the videos. . Live performance or official music video..
I developed a stronger liking for Thorogood ( and a lot of others)after watching a few of his videos. Hope HE GETS TO PERFORM here this year as my ticket fir 2020 resulted in a Covid cancelled show...

Getting back to the Beatles for a moment....this is a tribute song to Chuck Berry's "Back in the USA". At the time it was recorded Ringo had temprarily left the band in frustration, so Paul did the drumming.

Warren Zevon (Werewolves of London) was an extraordinary songwriter. His early success was interrupted by numerous bouts with rehab from drugs, but he finally managed to clean himself up and resume his career. Unfortunately he was diagnosed with mesothelioma, an incurable lung cancer normally associated with asbestos. He died about 20 years ago, leaving us with some great music. Here is one of his more humorous songs that when you hear it you will say..."Yep...I've been there."

Desmond Dacres was one of the earliest reggae influences in mainstream popular music. He never achieved the fame of Bob Marley despite initially helping Marley establish himself. Nevertheless Dacres had a top 10 hit with this song, featuring a reggae beat and an eccentric singing style.
