Howie you used up a ton of knowledge and good advise on this free site for a simple on off switch.   
I suggest you buy another BCCMC hat to support the club and maybee another one for Paul.

All kidding aside congratulations on finding the spark, good news indeed.

All good Howie,  I am finally satisfied with my  Harley starter problems basically by replacing the both the relay and the solenoid knowing the starter itself and the button on the bar was giving 12 volts to the solenoid. Now that I am confident that the Harley will not strand me I will move my attention to the Norton this week.

The Norton has an opposite problem, sparks galore!  Almost like it got hit by lightning when I wasnt watching.  So anti British.
Some of the members have given me some insight so hoping it to be a short fix ( no pun intended )
Will update everyone with my results and hope to be riding it very soon.

Kiwi Roy and I rode down to the Moto Guzzi rally in John Day Oregon.

I'll have some more pics once I get them all sorted.

There were 26 Stelvios at the rally, two of them are not in the picture.

Must be every Stelvio in North America:

We were just down there 2 weeks ago for the Northwest GS rally, we had 11, or was it 12 bikes. Probably a lot more fun than the numbers they had.

I think the organisers claimed about 350 people attended.

Saw some very cool machinery. Very eccentric stuff too.

There was a fellow there with a IConvert running a diesel engine and another fellow on a homebuilt Iconvert trike which had fully independent rear suspension and reverse.

More work on my KZ1000 engine.  I have an oil leak on the gasket between cylinders and valves that I can't seem to get rid of.  I stripped the engine down twice to fix it.  New gaskets...lots of Permatex.  Still weeping.

On the plus side Sweetums and I drove up to Pemberton yesterday.  We met a tiny lady from Quebec at a pullout on Green Lake.  We got chatting about older bikes and she said her first bike was an H2 750 Kawasaki back in the day.  Nowadays she rides a new 250 Honda with dual acting single disc up front and a single on the rear.  I would have taken a pic of the bike but I left my phone at home.

Yes and no...I don't have a decent straight edge but I put a flat edge on it.  It wasn't warped from what I saw.  

Last night I decided to leave the bike cold for a day or two.  So I pulled the carbs and cleaned them up.  I had a stripped thread on #2 carb synch screw so I changed it and did a mechanical synch.  

I've used two different types of Permatex spray on gasket stuff in the past.  One is copper and the other is red.  The copper seems much tackier and thicker.  Right now I only have the red stuff so I think if I have to pull the engine apart again I'll buy some more copper permatex.  It's never failed me.

Edited to add that the bike runs much better with the carbs adjusted.  (I also went to 17.5 pilot jets from 20)  But the oil leak is still there, although much reduced.  So at least one more head job is in the works, assuming I can get the Permatex copper spray gasket.

Yesterday was a busy day on the 900F:

*Pulled and cleaned the carbs - a second time.  It idles fine now and drives fine above 2500RPM but something missing in-between.
*De-greased and re-lubed final drive chain
*Lubed side cover gromets.
*Replaced broken pin in Horn harness
*Replaced broken pin in Flasher harness
*Replaced corroded pins in Brake light harness
*Removed and cleaned neutral switch
*Swapped on a better seat
*Replaced fuse block power connector in headlight bucket (original was cracked)
*Replaced or cleaned pins in several connectors (seem to be a bit of an ongoing theme)
*Lubed throttle and choke cables

Next up:
*Carbs again.  Ug!  Waiting for an Alen head bolt kit for the carbs before tackling again.
*Valve check and adjustment
*Grease swingarm

Sounds like you have pilot jet issues Bucko.

I finally got my KZ1000 running without oil leaks.  The bike still barks once in a while so I have some adjusting on the carbs.  And the starter drags so the brushes probably need changing.  And the brakes need adjusting.  And someone has to clean up all those tools and take the rags to the coin laundry where they have a special machine for dirty stuff.

I was there a short time before that. Showed up in JD on a Tuesday, another rider told me there would be 600 BMW bikes there by Thursday! I was gone by then. The weather was sure crappy when I was there, cold windy and rainy. It snowed on the peaks SE of JD the night I was there. They week before they had 100 degrees. LOL.

The pass that the Guzzi Stelvio appears to be named after is a Bucket List destination for me.

Been working on the H1 since becoming the new owner and changing a few things back to stock before it goes in the livingroom Wink
had to break down the wheels again to get the date coded rims rechromed and now have them relaced with new spokes, just have to remount and balance the tires again...of course in the pictures they look the same as they did when I originally spent hours cleaning and polishing them but I coudn't live with it...
