I was scratching my unshaven face wondering how I could be more in tune with my inner hipster and discovered this easy mod. Should be good for an easy extra 10 mph while parked at your favourite latte bar or biker hang out, requires no special tools and is easily reversible if hassled by the man or getting that collector plate because, hey you're all about cheap, then this is the trick for you. Your bike will go faster than four bucks at Starbucks, guaranteed! Don't PM me for instructions, that would be a fail.

back to the tank cleaning. i just heard about electrolisis. you mix washing soda in water and fill the tank. get your 2A charger, hook the neg to the tank and the pos to a piece of rebar and stick it in the tank for 24 hrs. keeping the rod away from touching the tank. the rust leaves the tank and goes to the rebar.
has any one heard of or tried this out and if so how did it work?
i don't know how to get pics from facebook to here, sorry, ken.

 Electrolysis works, but vinegar may be less hassle.
 BTW Ken, I posted in wanted looking for a Ducati single sprocket.. I think I sold you one..

New DID 530 chain, new sprockets went up 2 on the back for more torque, I don't need more top end.  New Pirelli Angel GT tires front and rear, oil change semi synthetic and high flow oil filter.

More progress on the LeMans tonight. Sent my speedometer out to be checked over and serviced, finished wiring the instrument panel and installed new rearsets.

I'm dropping the tank and bodywork off with the paint shop tomorrow.

Hopefully I'll have it done by the end of July.

More Lemon progress.

Cleaned up the rear brake disc, re-assembled the rear wheel and final drive.

The back end is all bolted back together, including some new-to-me Works shocks.

Finally got the 'new' '81 GL1100I back in service. Over the last couple of weeks, I changed the head gaskets, valve seals, timing belts (the old ones were still good, but ...), fuel tubing, neutral switch (nasty job) and swapped out the leaking rear air shocks. The rain let up long enough this afternoon to wheel it out and give the engine a good washing, then go for a good spin.

I think it starts a bit easier after it's been running than it did before. The new rear shocks make it a bit lower in the rear. Makes ground handling easier. I'll keep an eye on the road handling, in case i have to stiffen up the shocks.

The 'older' '81 GL1100I is on hold waiting for the buyer to make room for it at home. At least I had the Shadow to ride while the GL was off the road. It could be up for sale if anyone is interested.

Electrolysis works very well. I used it a couple of years ago on an old Norton Atlas tank that had sat for years with a combination of old gas and water.  It came out pristine but I still use a fuel filter just in case.
