Installed new BT45's on the 83... then rode the bike to its former home for show-n-tell.

I don't think you have them installed correctly .
My aluminum bracket are installed on the outside of the weights.

Mine are a different brand so maybe that why yours are like that.

I put on a set of Barkbuster Storm's last week. I found the install instructions to be ambiguous at best. Mine are mounted with the aluminum bracket butted directly to the end of the handlebar. If I'd used spacers as the directions state, there would have been no place on my handlebars to mount the inside end of the aluminum bracket. If there is too much vibration I'll just get longer bolts and put my bar-end weights outside of the aluminum bracket as Trevor's photo shows.
While I was at it I installed the Givi engine guards and an SW Motech skidplate. Now I'm ready to start crashing around without any little bits breaking off! (Hopefully)

Nice work Glenn!
Yeah, I didn't want to lose the bar ends as the vibration can get to be too much. I did exactly that Glenn...installed longer bolts in the bars to be able to keep them.

Yeah, on mine Henry there just isn't enough room to do it that way. It does look cleaner your way but I can't.

My Cycra have a long aluminum bracket. I will have a look at Glens and see if we can get his weights in there.

If a guy is willing to spend an extra $65 you can get bar-end weights from Barkbuster plus the bolts required.

Personally, I'd rather grab a couple longer bolts and use my existing weights.
(Never mind, I see they're backordered)

Well, at that price I would hope so! The KLR and DR aren't exactly the grey poupon of dual sports.
Heck, I could buy 2 new KLR's for the price of one those "Euro" jobs, plus have some loot left over to get some handguards!
