I rode to work today, it wasn't raining at my house but it was raining about 1/4 mile away. Damn.

Henry, let's see now, the tires were put on 30 years ago, likely water used to make tube-handling easier, and the moisture has been sitting in there since. If it's only surface, and you can get the new skins mounted without water, I don't think that rusting will be an issue.
TT, if that anti-rust paint dries hard, wouldn't it crack from wheel flexing? Wouldn't almost any good paint seal these rims for Henry?

The layer of paint it leaves behind is very thin, thinner than any of the other rust paints we've tried.
It might crack but I doubt it.
Probably any paint would be better than nothing, I fight with rusty old cars on a daily basis and this is the product that seems to work the best.
We use a rust convertor from Wurth on occasion as well. It's like rust mort (muriatic acid) but it doesn't need a water wash to neutralise it afterwards, it just dries and you paint over it. Might be good for a wheel because I'd be worried about acids getting into tight areas and not being able to be washed out.

Gord, Sean, Roy, and Rob came over last night. Gord was kind enough to bring his valve spring compressor. Gord and I installed the springs in the Z1 head, after which we all had a beverage and told some lies and had some laughs.

Pulled my 30 year old tires off my rims today and they where hard to get off, and very stiff
Glass beaded the rust on the inside of my rims and wonder what a guy can spray on to stop it from rusting again.
Any ideas
I've always used Mar-Hyde One Step

I bought Rust Remover from Canandian Tire and it smells acid.
I think it needs rust to work but I already removed it with glass bead.
Not shure if it will leave a protective coating with out it.
Looks like your product would also require rust to work.
Maybe I will clear coat it and then good for an other 30 years

Chris/Dale,
What would be the cost to vapour blast that head and valve cover?

Put about 100K on the CX650E this morning, I'm learning to ignore the squirmyness (is that even a word?) of the dual-sport tires and simply trust that they will hold when I lean the bike over, it seems to be working.
I think the carbs may need some attention though, it acts up occasionally for no reason, feels more like a fuel problem than an ignition problem.
