Moved my 76 KZ900 to a more accessible spot in the garage and began prepping it for sale.  It should be in craiogslist by the weekend, a week at the latest.

out in the shop and now ready for transmission extraction ..... just need to get someone over as 2nd set of hands to prevent dropping  or some other manhandling screwup.  And just a question about the flywhel teeth .... would replacing the flywheel and starter drive be a good idea at this time??  (replacing clutch while doing this 40,000 mile spline lube seems to be a nobrainer but no problems with starter so far ) the starter has matching divots  ....... so choices are ... replace starter drive .... replace both flywheel and starter drive.
I would say those cogs are in good shape, I think they come with a chamfer like that to ease engagement

While I'm waiting for the 850 clocks to come back, I pealed the carbs out, and am re-checking intake o-rings, float levels, plus re-jetting (I had hesitation at full throttle, likely/possibly from the non-stock mufflers), and putting the needles back to their stock clip locations........lots of little jobs, no rushing this time in my antsiness to get the bike out on the road.

Jets are cheap, and we'll see if this makes a difference in the spring...obviously, I can't do plug chops right now, so results will have to wait.   Also in the spring, I get to try out the vacuum gauges I got from Gissmo....

I dont understand it but maybe the parts guy is new and not shure what to punch in.

From now on I will find the numbers for them and the cost was far less then the Internet prices.

Bill,

The 1st person with $3000 takes her away.  I'll try to post pics.

Cheers,

Regarding parts computer systems not having a complete list of all years parts.......I've always looked up the correct part number for my bike, car, snowblower, whatever before I go to order the part......knowledge is everything.....who knows more about your equipment, you, or a parts person that has never seen your vehicle?   Be proactive, people, you don't go and buy any old car or house, do you?   You research, research, research, so that you know more than the salesperson....there, I feel better, now.....
