Installed Dynatek coils on my KZ Ltd. Hopefully it will help with a rough running condition when the engine is hot after an extended run. I suspect the issue is with the cheap aftermarket coils from overseas. So far it starts and idles as usual, can’t really notice a difference. Time will tell if the issue is still there after a long hot run.
Roy and I rode up to Squamish this morning for coffee. Although the weather wasn’t really hot, it was quite warm. I reckon the new coils have done the trick. Ran smooth as silk in all situations. 53mpg. I can highly recommend the upgrade to Dynatek coils.

Ross, do you know where the Dynatek coils are manufactured?

I don’t actually know where they’re manufactured. Could very well be offshore as well. But I do know that the emgo ones you get from Z1E, Z1 Parts, Diablo Cycle, etc can’t cut it.

The Dyna coils are easy to source and I recommend them after having them on my Z1R for over 40 years without fail and using copper wire. Only issue I ever had was in California where I bungied my sleeping bag to the tent and the tension pulled out on coil wire as they have a plug in like a car and are not sealed like the factory units.
I would definitely recommend them from my experience.

The reason I asked is because I try to avoid buying anything from China.

I think we should all try and avoid Chinese goods. I could be wrong, but I believe Dyna coils are made in USA.

But the cheep offshore ones have let me down. I had one fail totally on a trip. So I got another set and installed them, keeping the other one for spare. Now one or both of those would not fire properly when hot. Hence the switch to Dynatek. Could have saved myself some aggravation if I’d coughed up the $ for Dynatek coils at the outset. It should be noted that the coils were missing from the bike when I got it.

I built a jig up off a RD350lc swingarm. I am waiting for an aluminum one to modify for the bike.

Could hear some 'rubbing' on the ride home from coffee yesterday. Stopped several times to try to figure out what was causing it but couldn't see anything obvious. When I got home, took a look at the rear brakes and found this (See attached photo). The left side of that pad is dead even with the pad backing and the wear mark on the pad is what was causing the rubbing noise.
Fortunately I had a new set of pads on the shelf. I have a new braided SS line to go on too but the hose routing is a bit messy so I left that for another day. Turns out changing Voyager rear pads was pretty easy: I took some extra time to clean all the bits up a little (I'll do a more thorough job when I install the new line), but the actual pad change from start to finish - the two caliper bolts hold everything together - took less than 5 minutes - spent more time looking up the caliper bolt torque value which I couldn't find in the end - used generic bolt-size torque value.
