Beautiful work!  Interesting how the front shock reflectors look just like a Z1.

Looking GREAT.  Having had 3 CBX's over the years I admit I'm a bit prejudiced about them.  In recent years I've noticed many newer machines are a total BEAR to work on, compared to the CBX's which were considered complex back in the day.  Not much I would attempt to do on some of my newer machines that I routinely did on the CBX.

this was my first experience with a CBX and the cost of parts like exhaust etc was a real eye opener...sad part is I haven't ridden it yet, bought it to ride then wanted to clean it up and it turned into a full teardown, engine out frame stripped new paint brakes rebuilt and on and on and on...

Very nicely done you can hang out with Harry in Vernon..
That looks like huge work.. is tgevblack on engine original or redone.
On the 77 and 78 F 750 with black motors, it looks like they are coated, then final machining is done, , so when you pull off an engine  cover there is black paint.

The 81/82 CBX's all had the black engines.  Locally, friend GARY MILLER has an original '82 he bought new.  I seem to recall it has about 80K showing.  Harry in Vernon has a collection of various bikes to be envied.
