Went with my son for a car ride today to Castlegar.
Came back with his first motorcycle, a 78 CB 750 sohc....
Didja know , that if you take some parts off you can fit it into an old Subaru outback ?
Well it did, we took off pipes wheels tank, seat, rear grab rail. Both fenders and wheels. We left the handlebars, forks, swingarm and shocks on, and got it in the back.. Whoo Hooo..

So while I wait for the substantial order of parts to arrive, I have been working on A fork leg. I think it is now ready for the internal rebuild. If the bits don't get here before the strike, I will have both legs ready to go.

I have several projects on the go, including a set of Z1 forks, a set of carbs and an engine. The forks are held up until I receive a seal puller. The carbs only need a set of fuel tees. And the engine needs a cam chain. All are dependant on the mail continuing to flow.

Hers a good way to pull seals.
Punch a dimple in steel part of seal usually covered with seal material.
Then drill 1/16 hole, 2, 180 from each other. Then thread a screw in both.
Grab a clawhammer, and a shim around 3/16 thick if wood less if aluminum . Then grab screw with claw and pry up against lower leg, shim goes in between hammer and fork. The crisscross used in cedar fences or paint stir stick is about right.
A bit one side, a bit the other and presto it's out....
A lot of seal pullers will still eFF up an alloy fork lower..

Thanks Frank, I'll give that a try.
Finished one set of carbs today. I had Keyster kits, which come with 4 needles. I thought they were different but all said Y45 on them, which is the replacement number for '75 Z1 carb needles originally scribed 5J9. I checked them closely and realized they all had different tapers! I picked the one that most closely matched my 5J9 needles and that's what went into the carbs. Supposed to be set on #2 from the top but I set them at #4 to try to get more fuel a bit earlier. We will see how they perform when I get the engine back together.
I cleaned up the barrels but I think they need Scotty's loving touch, so will likely be making a trip to Chilliwack next week. Working on the head right now. Checking valve specs and lapping.

Replaced my worn out Sport Demons with a nice new set of Scorpion Trail IIs. Now I just need a couple of hours of dry roads to scrub them in!
huh...looks like I installed them upside-down?

It's not upside-down, the tires are just REALLY sticky.

I managed to score some ultra rare fox air shox, (yes, that how they spelled shocks) for my display/basement 79 CR250.

SCORE!!! I wonder if it's the same feeling an archiologist gets when they find something rare?
