Claudio, I knew you'd find spark somewhere....I left enough scattered around, like socks from the dryer, never to be found on purpose.....

I'm west of Shannon Lake so the magnetic field you speak of is almost non existent.....
.....but Frank, I see what you're doing there as well. You're just as clever as Howie.

Got a bunch of goodies for the the old 750, decent seat finally. And shocks, and more..maybe spruce the old girl up before she pukes her guts up on the highway...getting pretty tired that old bike.. Still likes to get on the highway though..

I made some shock brackets to take some ride height and chain deflection out of the tracker XS. I'm kind of a "trial and error guy".

I liked the gold USD fork I had, but without a good matching rear change ..I thought it would look out of place..
Scored a Joe Hunt magneto , less drive today ! And I have another Joe Hunt with the drive coming soon.. Pretty scarce them Hunt mags...
Will go good with my Webers...

After an easy ride to Horseshoe Bay and back I had some time so I decided to check valve clearance on Sweetum's KZ550 and then check the shims to see what I needed to order. The valve clearances were easy...just pop the cover and check the clearances. Only one small issue came up...on of the coils had to come off in order to lift the valve cover off the engine, but it was easy enough to do.
The shims are a different matter though. They're under the bucket instead of over, which means the cams have to be removed to take the buckets off. And that's a much bigger job than it looks because the tensioner has to come off, which means the carbs have to be removed. But the airbox can't come out until the carbs are removed, so it was touch and go for a while as to whether I would cut the airbox to get it out, but the carbs eventually loosened enough to slide out with the airbox in place. Then to top it off, none of the shims still had the numbers stamped on them so I had to mic each one to get the sizes. What started as a 1 to 2 hr job became a 4 hr job quite quickly, and the bike is still in pieces in the garage. So today I have to re-time the cams and put everything back in place. Good thing it's raining!

Major pain that shim UNDER bucket system. Fortunately they do tend to stay within clearances for many kms. The CBX's, and all that family of engines in 750, 900, and 1100 sizes as well as all the 2 valve Suzukis of that era have shims OVER the bucket. Never could see the sense of under the bucket designs for anything less than a full out racing engine. I guess the factories want you to take the bike to their dealers for service since t's NOT a simple task for the back yard mechanic. Go Figure?
