I did a Google search on my license plate because it sounded familiar and this came up , I can run with that ....

It was named after Eddie Van Halen's home studio, 5150, which is a California law enforcement term for a mentally disturbed person (a reference to Section 5150 of the California Welfare and Institutions Code).

Ducati demo rides were happening this Friday at Savage Cycles Victoria, so of course I was all over that one and got to mildly abuse another 899 Panigale but the real fun was saved for Sunday's ride by invitation, we got to do the loop from Langford to Renfrew-Cowichan Lake and twisty roads on the way back. Alex, the owner fed us all breakfast at the Coastal Cafe in Renfrew and made sure the tanks were full in Cowichan also. I was the guy on the Multistrada with the huge happy head! The bike is simply amazing, handling all the various road surfaces like a champ, the ECU adapting to the rider's input....can't say enough good things about it. Before you all go off on the this is a classic site blah blah blah, this is also a comment on some good roads and good people.

Late July quadding trip to Hollister, CA





The weather was nice. Mid 30's

Brought a cat for company... Found some big-assed pine cones.

All one-way trails.... No other way but down!



It's not a California trip without a stop at Six Flags...





Went yard saleing with the Old Man this weekend.... You tend to buy less big crap when you take the bikes...



The grinder was just a bit too long to fit... Good thing I didn't buy the deck lounge chair...

We had a similar goof here in Penticton which at was at least taken down in short order.

Hollister Hills is run and maintained by the BLM... And Hollister is a small town, I mean, there isn't even a Wal-Mart!  They've got the best people that can pass the Government placement exam... And are willing to work for $13/hr... In the Union...

In reality, most of them are dirt bikers with jobs at the track.

Many many years ago when my wife and I lived in Calgary we would do the camping thing up Spray Lakes way.  Very nice area.

Henry came over yesterday and I helped him install some new Tusk panniers on my KLR. Lots of storage now! I put on a weather resistant gps mount today and went for a spin up to Skmana Lake to see how everything would work. Big improvement. The BC backroads gps maps are quite thorough and take a lot of guesswork out of off road riding.
