Stan led a bunch of us up there on a Sunday ride a few years ago.  And there was much merriment.  Grin

My wife and I decided to take a last minute over night trip up to Campbell River yesterday. It's about 285kms to get there. Left Saturday around 10:30am...Weather this spring has been awesome! I'm lucky that my wife is cool with making last minute trips on the bike.

It was beautiful leaving Campbell River at 8:30 then just about 85kms in we had a little rain..nothing to get the suits out for. So we decided to stop for breakfast. The sun came back out 30min later.
We took the new hwy home that has speed limit of 120kmh...you sure can cover a lot of miles doing 140-160kms an hour! Lol...Did I mention my wife is awesome?!

Weather cleared up nicely on Monday.

Back to the land of the flat with my cousin following on his 2003 954 fireblade.  The extended swingarm and firm suspension didn't agree with his backside... Nor do these 'rough' Alberta roads...

And this damned thing... 7 months of hibernation and it starts on the first pull... Oh well, gotta hack those dandelions!

My wife and I actually got to go out together for the first time in what seems like years. We both had the day off and kids were fired into daycare. Well, placed in daycare. Wandered up to the Malahat Chalet for lunch through Mount Work backroad and down Finlayson Arm Rd. After lunch wandered behind Shawnigan lake and across to skirt Cowichan Bay. Not a long journey bye any means, but when it happens so infrequently, it is appreciated much more.

Kewl bike!! Oh, and consider this as an Adventure bike! I recently attempted to ride the West Harrison FSR on my 1200GS with street tires. Made it as far as "the shale hill" where things stopped quickly. At that point I wish I had my XR650L  as it would have been 'easy cheezy' on that thing. Rode back home with my tail between my legs.
