new retro bikes are everywhere, the Honda is, however, mostly in a showroom  Evil

You're right, I've only seen 3 other 1100s and one of those is the one always at holeshot. A place in Florida had new 2014s for $6000. Those come with 6 speeds, almost worth the trip, ha.

Now for something totally different...well for me anyway. I stopped by Kenco and got to see this little gem, a newly arrived Royal Enfield Himalaya. Love the look Ken, so he says take it for a rip...no flies on this guy, so of course yeah. It's a full size bike with an air cooled FI 5 speed long stroke single around 400 cc's.

It comes with a centre stand, bash plate, guards around the tank...multi function digital display and nice Pirelli rubber and can be had with panniers as an extra.
So what's it like? Not a powerhouse....but with 25 or so horse I kinda knew that going in....KTM or Ducati not worried. I have to say though once I got used to where the power was I could chug along quite happily. Would make a wicked commuter in the city or on the trail. Only beef I had was the shocks needed a little more damping on rebound and maybe a bit more front brake....fun bike that doesn't look cheap or junior league like some of their stuff and the fuel injection is dead on...shocking but really it is. Do I need another bike? Dunno, does my dog need another pecker? Wouldn't be shy about riding this one. Harris Performance in the UK, which Enfield bought did the frame...

Yeah agreed. You might not be the first up the mountain but it would get you there. The Bullets in the Himalayas videos are awesome/hilarious.

My Dad and I tried to get up to the forestry lookout above Jesmond which is behind Clinton. It got a bit rocky and rutted for the old boy so we turned around about halfway up. He will be 76 in September so at least he's still out there.

Good for you and your Dad Mark.      My dad still has his 6 but is no longer comfortable on bikes and Mom is more strict now with him so his riding days are over even though he only rode my bikes for very short rides.  Mom has given up on me and June and just hopes we both enjoy our hobby.

Got to set up the bike and take her out for a 200 kms of twisties....I think I have another forever bike,  and though I was sad to see the Bonneville go, somebody will get an optioned, low mile bike, ridden by an old guy.
