Took a roadtrip this weekend. I'm not very good at taking vacations, I need to be away from my house or I just end up working at home when I'm not at work.
Since my Silverwing crapped the bed last week, I had to take the Eurotrash instead. I bolted on the ammo cand and strapped on a drybag and headed out.
I took Hwy 7 to Hope, Hwy 3 to Princeton, Princeton to Coalmont, 5a to Kamloops, Hwy1 to Cache Creek, Cache Creek to Lillooet, Duffey Lake to Pemberton and then the Sea to Sky home.
Stopped at the Coalmont Hotel, the oldest operating saloon in B.C. 101 years!
Had a beer and chatted with the owner, the place may be getting torn down soon, if you haven't been there, go, support the guy trying to preserve some of our history.
It's far from the old days of "Fight night at the Coalmont Hotel" but there's still a divot in the wood floor from a Harley rider doing a burnout in the bar.
Home Sweet Home. I stopped in Granite City just outside Coalmont to camp for the night. Granite City is an old ghost town that is fading fast.
Not much left of the old gold dredge.
The plaque at Granite City. Blakeburn is another ghost town a few miles up a logging road from Granite City. I tried to get there but met a couple log trucks coming the other way that were very familiar with the term "time is money" so I turned back rather than get squished.
Not sure what this building was, no, it's not an outhouse.
Duffy Lake Rd heading to Pemberton
That's where I stopped taking pics because shortly after I ran through three big rainstorms on my way to Pemberton. I was wet when I rolled into town so I got a room at a hotel rather than camp.
The worst part of the whole trip was the run from Horseshoe Bay to Langley.
