Where Shall we Meet for Coffee on Sunday?

Pardon my ignorance..but..
Where and when didthe blubird term originate.?

 Only the second time I heard , it but the first time was about 10 days ago..or so..
 And it was a Quote on the memorial card of the son of the owner of  well known bike shop.. Who died racing last year.
That term was part of what he said on his last morning.... And what he said..was very moving..

It was an unfamiliar expression to me as well. Checked out Urban Dictionary and this was one of the entries for the term:

"Mostly used to describe a perfect, cloudless bright blue sky and plentiful sunshine. Especially in snowboarding conditions.
check out that sky man, it's total bluebird! my favorite to shred to!"

It suggests that the origin comes from snowboarders...

Yes, thanks to Stan for the chase through Glen Valley, good run that. Man, that Indian is loud on the gas! Between the straight piped Indian, and the thudding Guzzi (Roy), both in front of me, I was having a little trouble picking out my shift points by ear! And between Roy's strangely alluring (!) ocelot skin leg warmers and Stan's hydrocarbon generating locomotive (eyes still watering) I think this club's members must be on Greenpeace's most wanted list. For sure. We just need a bike that leaks oil like the Valdez and we'd have all bases covered. You bad a$$ bikers you  .

I ended up visiting a friend in Abbotsford later in the day and we took a spin up Sylvester Road (Hatzic) to see yet another buddy. Despite most members being out of town Sunday I seemed to have run into quite a few old friends this weekend. Good times all. The Gold River run looked fantastic, lots of pics (thanks) but nobody commented on the road. How about a review of the road from Campbell River to Gold River? I'd like to do it in the fall with my wife (John/June?) if I can get away for a few days.

Mt. Baker looked great, next time for sure. I had a commitment to visit Ma on Sunday or I'd have been there. Where else did you guys go, just up the Baker highway and back? Or further south?

Rob,   June and I are already discussing when we can go back to Gold River ( hopefully July )   Trevor and his wife want to go up there together and Mike and his wife might come down to Campbell river and join us,  Doug and his wife want to meet us in Nanaimo and head up also.     There could be another group that we could put together to please our wifes ( and of course ourselves) again.

Most Bluebirds I see...we just call them a schoolbus..

I've been using the term "Bluebird" since I started skiing in junior high school, 1970ish.  It was a very common expression when I was on the ski patrol in Fernie, and more so among the back country skiers I used to hang with. I've only heard it in the skiing community.

Now, I'm a bit of a throw back on skis. I only telemark and have done since about 1980. The snow boarders didn't even appear in numbers until the late 80s. They, like hipsters, are very unoriginal.

When I started telemarking, it was on 220 cm skinny skis with short boots like leather running shoes.  Must have face planted a million times while learning.  But it was the best gear to be on to get into the back country.  Light and simple.

Coffee is good for me then we are headed down to Commercial drive to watch other people watching soccer so no bike ride Sunday afternoon for me.
I like that place in Fort Langley but the Wired Monk always is central to most of the group.  Anywhere is good for me.
