Wheels, I don't have an 8-track player, but if you have LPs, we can give them a spin.

Does anyone have a 5.5mm Alan wrench? I have a 5mm which is a bit too loose and a 6mm which is too big. I'm afraid of stripping the heads of the cam idler screws if I use the 5mm.

I have a 5.54 mm allen wrench, AKA 7/32 would that work?

I took a chance with the 5mm and got them loose. But I'd like to try the 7/32 just for knowledge sake.

Ross,  funny think is I was just told that we do in fact have some vinyl Led Zepp in the house by my son.  Better just hang on to them here hoping they come back in style again

AH HA!  Now I know why there was no compression in # 1&4. I removed the head from the Led Zed, and lo and behold, There is a chunk broken out of each exhaust valve.   Does anyone have a valve spring compressor?

Wheels, for me vinyl never went out of style. I don't have any Zepplin, and you probably haven't listened to them of a while. Why don't you bring them along and we can give them a whirl.

OK I'll bring the 7/32nd Allen Wrench,
It's pretty easy to remove valves without a compression tool, 19mm socket over the valve and hit it with hammer, the collets will jump off and it releases the valve, you will need a tool to re-install though.

Put some rope or cord in the plug hole, then bring piston up..

There's a 'plunger tool' you can buy from Lisle (and a few other places but I found the one from Lisle was the most economical) that works very slickly and quickly for removing and installing the valves springs and keepers.   I used one on my 1100F to swap out the valve seals without removing the head.

Once again thank you to Ross for not only putting on the venue for coffee but supplying the coffee and food as well.   It seemed to be a popular idea this morning having a dozen of us show up in our boats.  Oh yes and Dan did ride his bike today!    Ross just so you know I hit Princess Auto on the way home and grabbed one of those fancy spinners that you were showing us and may just keep it in my living room as I cant stop spinning and twirling it around.  I am sure every nut bolt and screw in my house will be loose in a matter of minutes.

I too wish to say thanks to Ross for hosting yesterday. It was a warm, cozy gathering of the clan (heated shop!!) on a damp, drizzly Sunday morning. Strong coffee, donuts/muffins aplenty and good company made for a very pleasent way to start the day. Disassembled bikes/engines to peruse, tooling/methods to compare, maps taped to the wall to plan trips.....it was all very good. Maybe we ought to mark down all the trip ideas discussed for the coming year on some kind of communal calendar and try to get a little more organized. If everyone can see the weekends/routes considered in advance then commitments can be made and maybe some of them could actually happen as group events. Just a thought  .

p.s. Like John, I plan to adorn my toolbox with a pair of those slick T-spinners, just haven't gotten there yet. No matter how many tools one collects there always seems to be one more nifty version to be had!!

No thanks necessary. You guys are all very welcome. I enjoyed hosting the Sunday coffee. Fellowship is always good. We'll do it again.

There is always coffee on, or beer in the fridge in my shop, and tunes aplenty.

Weather is suppose to be good on Sunday; if you guys want to come out to Ladner again I can bring Miss January. If you are good, I might even let you touch her; sorry that just sounds wrong, but I could not help myself. If not know worries I will bring her out another day.

I won't make it to coffee this week, or even next week if the weather is good. At work we're installing a new sanitary line across Willingdon, Saturday and Sunday. Another crew is installing a new storm line across Lougheed Highway, Saturday and Sunday nights both weekends as well. Best to avoid the Brentwood Mall area.
