OK, with a bit of help from Shawn, I found out the story on the tool Nico brought to coffee.
1890's hand tool from German company Henry Bocker Tools. It is a saw set. Huh???

I’ve no idea how a saw set is used.  A demonstration or explanation is required.

My grandfathers both taught me how to use one. I have really good quality tool that I use and boy does it make a cross-cut saw worth using!  Have no idea whom I should leave all my woodworking and carpentry tools too. One of my grandfathers was a master builder and my great-grandfather owned a wood-turning outfit that also did fine cabinetry. Who does that any more???
Frank
This makes me sad guess I will have some more Bailey’s with my coffeee. Recovering from a food hangover!!

The "set" is how every other tooth is deflected left and right a few degrees. This allows clearance for the material to not bind during the cutting process. If the table saw blade is 3mm the combined set of the teeth may be 4mm allowing 1/2mm on either side of the 3mm blade. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Frank, total respect for your family of fine carpenters. The stuff that was made hundreds of years before electricity was figured out is amazing and humbling. hand saws, block planes, crude lathes....
