I went out today, just me and the squirrels, had a great ride in the sunshine. Grin
I guess all the cyclists and runners didn't get the memo.

I explored the small roads along the truck route and found this.

I'm one of the cyclists that did get the message. It meant to go out and do what you gotta do. I simply refuse to submit to government induced fear and sheep herd stance. Only 22 kms today, my cranker bearing decided to fail after 31 years, wonder if there is a warranty.

The virus is carried from person to person.  If you want to prevent transmission the solution is to minimize person to person contacts.  That's about as simple as it gets.  But people seem to want to make it difficult.

Riding a bicycle alone outside in the sunshine seems a logical way to undertake lack of human contact.

We are all a very responsible group of adults and the chance us infecting each other is , in my opinion, very slim.
These  new restrictions are a result of the fools who ignore the guidelines that  we've been asked to follow.
I was told by a knowledgeable person that the problem is greatest within the South Asian community due to their social customs and propensity for multiple generations residing in the same home.

Correct. This has been reported several times. I offered the term “cultural” gatherings, consistent with “lovely large family gatherings of Cultural variety”, with news determining 74% of Provincial infection numbers south of the Fraser River. Rather disappointing. I would offer that I’m extremely mad at this situation we all have been put under. I for one will never forget the original origin of this virus, and the political entity that allowed it to spread outside of its its country with nary a concern for the rest of humanity, never mind its unfortunate citizens who live their life under a giant hammer.

The infection rate per 100,000 is greatest in Surrey (1,814) followed by downtown Vancouver (697) and then Burnaby at 570.  Richmond (277) is about average for the lower mainland in general.  You can see the breakdown by local health area here.

http://www.bccdc.ca/health-info/diseases-conditions/covid-19/data

I think Stan is close to the truth on how Covid is spreading.  The BC CDC epidemiological reports can be found on the same page.  They are published weekly.  This is the latest one dated Nov 6.

http://www.bccdc.ca/Health-Info-Site/Documents/COVID_sitrep/BC_COVID_19_Situation_Report_Nov_6_2020.pdf

The graph (Figure 7) on Page 6 shows how infections have shifted from people in the 30 to 50 year age group down to people in the 20 to 30 year age group.

Table 3 on Page 8 gives an interesting breakout of infections, hospitalizations, ICU admittents and deaths by age.  From this data it seems clear to me that covid is an age related disease.  The older you are the more serious the consequences.

Well one way to look at it is that the average age of those who died is 85.  So if you're under 85 you have a better than average chance of beating covid if you catch it!  Hope that helps allay the fear! Grin

It's not the beating of Covid that guides how I interact with the general unwashed, it's the danger of carrying it to my 91 year old mom.   I may feel fine, but you never know.

As all this scenario plays out, I'm afraid the world as we knew it a year ago is long gone, maybe forever  Now we have to try to compensate and find new ways to cope.

It will come back.. maybe slowly. .
Look back at the 1918 pandemic.. people were wearing masks ..  I certainly do not recall people saying early
1920,s  they kept wearing masks and did not interact socially for a few years.... but if course. .could be wrong it was long ago..
The gamechanger will be a vaccine  with high success rates and minimal side effects .
When you have a choice of live like these days, or take this and move on back  to more normal.... there will be a big change..
