They don't use electrolytic, they look a little bit like it but that's as far as it goes
i believe they are what's known as paper.
I don't know for sure but I don't think the value is very high (0.22 to 0.25 microfarads seems to be a thought) but suspect there's quite a bit of current flying back and forth between the coil and condenser.
Lots think the Capacitor/condenser is to suppress the spark on the points, it might do that as a sideline but it's really to tune the coil. I don't know how they do that with a modern coil.

I opened the one that failed, its utter crap., there is no connection from the case or the wire to the element, it just touches by good luck.

So, back to the purpose of the thread. Where’s coffee tomorrow? I suggest Porters once again. Bob was really looking forward to it. He really likes their breakfast. We (Bob, Roy, and I) didn’t make due to unforeseen circumstances. So let’s try it again.

Good to know.

This is the one I've been using on everything: https://www.holley.com/products/ignition/distributors/distributor_accessories/service_items_for_mallory_distributors/parts/400

1st world problem being what they are,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Coffee at Porters this morning became more than just a casual affair, for the 1st time in, 29 years, my bumblebee considered it an option NOT to get get me home under its own power. Just as I entered 200th st exit the charging system warning light told me it was not part of the team. A quick turn west back home with all electrical leaches turned off, by the time got onto my street the engine was barely firing. Multi tester confirmed 11volts dc at battery. Looks like I have an actual project in the garage late into the winter season. Glad I have the winter hack leaning against the garbage can.

 I don’t like electrical issues.

Yup. My ‘74 Norton has none of its original electrical components, the only thing that is Lucas, is the late version alternator rotor.
