Thank you for welcoming June and I to the coffee meeting this morning in Coquitlam and we enjoyed the companionship and discussions.   However now almost 12 hours after the meeting I want someone to pinch me!!   Out of the misty window of the coffee shop this unique motorcycle appeared through the rain and parked outside.  I put down my coffee and said to June it appeared to be an old rotary engined bike of some sort (guess my mind just assumes something unusual must be a rotary bike)  Fortunately I believe Stan corrected me and said it was a Royal Enfield. For the next hour I stared out the window looking at the headlight and mass of aluminum and radiators thinking to myself Royal Enfield??  June and I left before the others and of course I had to stop and stare at this amazing work of art which of course had a Royal Enfield emblem on the fuel tank.  On the way home we talked about this strange machine and I am no dummy but could not recall such a machine in my memory bank.  I skipped lunch and googled immediatly,  lets see inline fours from the early 1900s, singles of a few different sizes throughout the years, and attempts at V twins.  Several pages later nothing that resembled the picture imbedded in my mind this morning.  Said to June guess we will just ask the group about the bike next week as did not want to post it on this forum in fear of looking like a rookie.  Lo and behold our website has a search box so I typed in Royal Enfield and like a magic Genie there it was!  I was not dreaming as others have seen this bike and posted pictures.   Thank you Peter and sure hope to see you again and maybe hear the bike run ( can I honk the horn)  What a machine!!!
What a work of art,  we are definitley coming for coffee to see what shows up next week.

It was great to see you again and meet your wife.  Ya, Peter's bike is a work of art!  Looking forward to seeing you more often and building up the group some more.

Good to see new faces at our coffee meet, nice to meet John and June.  For more info on the engine Peter put in his bike, Google "Hillman Imp".  A mate of mine raced one back in the early 70s, very fast and a good handler, once the car has been lowered enough.  John.

Funny you mention the Hillman Imp as I recalled the name and did a bunch of googling yesterday to refresh myself on the little gem.   Reminds me a bit of my old Skoda's ( embarrasingly I owned three of them in my past )  Some similiarities as they both had aluminum blocks although the Skodas had steel heads and a much less tuned motor than the Hillman by at least  horsepower depending on how excited the motor was at the time.   
Sure peaked my curiousity for the past two days as well as bringing back a few memories as well.
What kind of surprise will show up next Sunday for coffee?   I cant wait.

Finally got the computer back up & running. 
Roy's back from China, says he has some cool Chinese riding gear.  We'll see.....
Got my 77 kz1000 finished today.  Paint cost $1K!  OUCH!  Looks great, runs well, Vance & Hines a little louder than I would like but sounds real tough.
Ordered repro body kit for my 73 Z1.  Should be shipped from Japan by the end of the month.
Z1 engine cases still in the works, hope to have them by Christmas, engine built shortly thereafter.

Absolutely coffee tomorrow. I'm assuming it will be in Coquitlam again as we did not discuss another venue.  Let's talk about that at coffee tomorrow.

Does anyone have valve spring compressor I can borrow? Or, if you can bring it to coffee tomorrow, we can remove the valves after coffee. My place is not far.

Sounds good to me.

I have a spring compressor but it may not work on your head if the springs are down into the head casting.

Mine looks like this:


I also have this one:


But it can be a bear to use if you cant get at each side of the spring.

You probably need one like Gord has:

count me in - albeit a tick late - I also have a spring compressor (but not the skills to upload a pic of same). It's a homemade collet/spring launcher and you will need quality safety glasses and band-aids, but I'll bring it along as it might be worth a laugh  at least
