It's actually a new build in a period style.

Apparently the museum had a 47 litre BMW aero engine lying around and decided to do something with it.

I have a 2.5 liter BMW engine in my second car, maybe someday when I replace the car the BCCMC brain trust should do a project with it??
HEY !! I set out to post that as one of my frequent flippant mirthisms.  But it actually could be a fun and unique project, can't do it alone though.  And it will require a ton of planning.  And I will need a replacement car if I am to eviscerate my E36.
Although our 89 Honda Prelude Si is also long in the tooth.
Though the Bimmer engine is technically a superior mill.
I suppose we could look for a serviceable motor and go from there.
As Harper might say, "friends, let me be crystal clear, I cant do this alone"
I am a certified welder and have worked industrial fiberglass in the past.
OK there's the acorn, will the mighty oak grow?

Someone said they were cheap and easy to work on?

That reminds me of the V12 Merlin (rolls Royce)engines that Dowell (an oil field service company) used to use on their frac trucks. Loud doesn't even start to describe it. I think the Merlins were 38 liters, nice video

What if Toyota / Lexus got Yamaha to build them a V-10 that weighed less than a V-6 and then .......... well here it is!!

http://www.bing.com/videos/search?q=Lexus+Lfa+vs+Nissan+Gtr&Form=VQFRVP#view=detail&mid=F38EC5CB3AF04C6C5E8CF38EC5CB3AF04C6C5E8C

Of course Bill would never buy one because it's not Kaw powered and also if he ever punched it in a car like this he wouldn't have enough skin left to blink.  This car is slightly faster than my Prelude.
