He is correct with respect to the Tesla self driving technology using cameras, but they also use radar.  According to my son they don't use Lidar.  My son worked for Cruze, who are the wholly owned GM self driving company.  He recently interviewed for the position of principal engineer for Tesla, and was offered the job but he declined because they don't have any interest in adding lidar.
