I bought one from Princess Auto to avoid the hipsters that wood seems to attract.

I built one out of plywood and 2x6s, with black iron pipe and threaded connectors, before I evolved to a Princess Auto special.

Pretty interesting design. It took some thought.
I bought mine used for $450. It has the advantage of being two position adjustable.

A coworker offered to give me his for free. Included a mc floor jack. I gave him $100. He’d had visions of serving and modifying his Harley. All he ever did was park the Harley on it. He was going to be moving house and wanted to get rid of the hoist. My lucky gain.

i made a couple 15 years ago too. all it cost me was a sheet of 3/4 plywood and some screws. the rest was just laying around. teeter-totter style. served me well until i got a princess auto one on sale. just the right height for sitting in a chair to work on the bikes. still using them today so i can work on multiple bikes. quite easy to move around also.
