I've got a unique connection with Deep Purple, perhaps fleeting.
Back in late 1986, myself and my sister rented a house 3 acre estate from our friends parents for 2 months on the Caribbean island of Montserrat. We brought many friends and family for 1-2-3 week stints to hang out in the tropical paradise. We ultimately stayed for free.
Anyways, it turns out our neighbour was Beetles Producer, George Martin's recording studio. By natural curiosity, superstar performers interacted with us, truly the only white people on the island other than themselves. We would be invited to join them at the famous pub type location in the capital town, Plymouth, called "The Plantation". Boy George, The Police, and Deep Purple all had recording times booked at the studio while we were there. The boys at Deep Purple were mischievous lads! ,,,,,, the time we all found 'interesting' at The Plantation, when one of my sisters girlfriends and one Richie Blackmore entered the single stall washroom for 15+minutes,,,,,,,only to exit with Richie wearing her undergarments and top, and she wearing his clothes, I remember my dad was shocked!!! Later they invited us, and a bunch of Royal Navy lads off the visiting HMS Achilles to the studio, where we were wined and dined, and given a private 1/2 hr session live in the studio. Of course my request of Smoke on the water was 15 minutes long!!!!
