Is it necessary to get specific bar grip adhesive?  Wouldn’t good old contact cement work?

I don't like gluing my grips on as they're inevitably going to have to come off.  I just put them on with no glue - if the grips spin, then a wrap, or two, of the bars with electricians tape will stop them from spinning while still allowing them to be removed relatively easily.

I don’t like mine to have even the possibility of slipping.  Grips are cheap.  When you really need to grip them, they’d bloody well better grip.

The mountain bike world uses a quick dose of hair spray in the grip, then slide it on.

I've done the same with motorcycle grips and never a problem.

Sticks well enough to hold it but still easy to get off.

I’ve tried the hairspray trick in the past.  If you’re riding in the rain, water creeps in and the hairspray then gets slippery.

Thanks guys.  It’s a ways away until I install new grips on the CB750.  I’ll let you know what I decide.
